I think I have been using the wrong approach. Today I tried to dig through some old newspapers from this town to find a clue about where the flower might grow. Any news about someone disappearing into the woods would be important knowledge and helpfull in my search for the flower. However, I almost gave up my hope because it seemed like for the past 10 years nothing seemed to have happened in this town. That was untill I started to interview people around the neighborhood. The people said strange things have been happening but everybody keeps silent about it. The reason to me is still unclear. Have to investigate further.

I saw a deer in the field! That was about the most interesting thing that happened during this day. I don't really know where to start looking for the flower…

Day one of finding the flower: It rained a bit today, which made for cool looking photos but I also got cold fast. Now I am eating the soup my grandma made me. I am trying to get her to talk about the flower again, but she said she can't remember which flower I am talking about, which is very frustrating! Maybe she has made it up after all.

Today I have registered myself for a nature photo contest in Europe! The entree was free and I have about 4 months to apply my picture. To win the competition you have to photograph something unique. I don't think I have any chance of winning, but it is worth the try! Now imagine if I could find my grandma's flower, it would improve my chances of winning significantly…

A flower that does not exist, or does it?

My old grandma used to tell me stories since I was little. Ofcourse, when you are so young you want to believe in legends, so as a young kid I tried to test them. I remember one particular story my grandma told me about a special flower that grew in Czech forests. It was called "Plačící květ lesa", in English translated to "weeping flower of the forest" and it would grow not more than once in a decade. If it did, it would bloom for a day and perish the next morning after. Apparently, the flower would grow where a loved one once died. I spent a lot of days in my childhood walking through forests, hoping I would randomly stumble across it, but I've never found it. As I am older now, I realize most of what my grandma told me is just fiction, but I think there is no harm in having a little bit of imagination. There is still this tiny feeling of hope in me, of the possibility that it might be real. That is why it is still my dream to find it, capture it with my camera and share it with whoever is reading this blog.
